Dear Knapp Families,
Students in grade 3-6 will participate in Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) testing in March for the Math & Reading section. Following this initial window, grade 5 will continue with writing, followed by fourth grade completion of the science section. The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a standards-based assessment used to measure students’ attainment of the academic standards and the degree to which school programs enable students to attain proficiency of the standards. Parents and schools typically receive results in the summer months to help plan for the 2014-2015 school year.
Student success on PSSA is of great importance to schools and to individual students. PSSA proficiency is one consideration used by secondary schools in their recommendation of students’ levels of study and option for foreign language study.
During this time, just like everyday, it is important that our children be encouraged to do their best. As parents, you can help them by continuing to provide them with consistent bedtimes, a nutritious breakfast, and your encouragement.
The testing schedule is below. Please do your best to have your child present and on time throughout the entire testing window.
Again, thank you for your efforts in assisting our children to demonstrate their learning and achievement.
Any questions, please contact the school at 215-853-1515.
